How does VNUS® Closure® Varicose Veins Treatment work?Using the Closure system, physicians close the diseased veins by inserting the Closure catheter into a vein and heating the vein wall using temperature-controlled RF energy. Heating the vein wall causes collagen in the wall to shrink and the vein to close. After the vein is sealed shut, blood then naturally reroutes to healthy veins. What does VNUS® Closure® Varicose Vein Treatment involve?VNUS® Closure® is the only radio frequency (RF) device used in vein surgery. The patented catheter is inserted into the vein through the smallest incision possible.As the catheter is withdrawn, the RF heats the vein causing the collagen in the vein walls to shrink and seal the vein. This happens at much lower temperature than is used in Endovenous Laser (EVLT) and so there is far less impact on surrounding tissue and, as a result, far less pain and discomfort for the patient. This means our patients are able to get back to their usual activities without delay. Once the vein is sealed, the blood flows naturally through the healthy veins and proper circulation is restored. Compared with vein stripping surgery or laser treatment, it's easy to see that VNUS® Closure® represents a welcome breakthrough, making the treatment of varicose veins a straightforward and routine possibility.
